Foreign affairs adviser Md Touhid Hossain said Sunday the government can issue a one time travel pass within 24 hours to allow Bangladesh Nationalist Party acting chairman Tarique Rahman to return home if he chooses.
Speaking at a DCAB Talk hosted by the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh at the National Press Club, he said, “If he says today that he wants to return, we can provide the pass tomorrow and he can catch the plane the day after tomorrow. There is no problem.”
Hossain said the one time pass is typically used when a person lacks a passport or holds an expired one. He added there are no restrictions on Tarique’s return. He also said Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairwoman Begum Khaleda Zia is not well enough to travel abroad.
