Khaleda Zia’s condition remains unchanged as tests continue in Dhaka. Tarique Rahman says he cannot return home to be with her.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairwoman Khaleda Zia’s condition remains unchanged as she continues treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, officials said on Saturday.

Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon told reporters that doctors described her status as stable but not improving and said further tests are underway in the operation theatre. He said no discussions have been held on sending her abroad for advanced care.

Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said Khaleda is not fit to travel and that any decision will depend on her stability.

In a Facebook post, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman wrote that he wants to be near his mother but cannot return to Bangladesh at this time.

Khaleda, 80, remains in the Coronary Care Unit with multiple health complications.
