Bangladesh’s economic activity accelerated in September, with the country’s Purchasing Managers’ Index rising to 59.1 from 58.3 in August, according to PMI Bangladesh, a joint initiative of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Policy Exchange Bangladesh.
The gain marked the 13th straight month of manufacturing growth, with expansions in new orders, exports, output, and supplier deliveries. Agriculture and construction also returned to growth after earlier declines, while services eased to 58.7 from 61.3.
Policy Exchange Chairman M. Masrur Reaz attributed the rebound to better weather and the rollout of the new fiscal budget, though persistent inflation continued to weigh on service activity.
