Pakistan and Afghanistan are being urged to stabilize their shared border and eliminate ungoverned spaces that allow militants to operate, threatening security and economic growth in both nations.
Pakistan’s State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry warned that if current talks with the Taliban fail to halt cross-border terrorism, Islamabad will answer with “the language of bullets.” He alleged that most attackers in Pakistan are Afghan nationals and called for stronger border controls.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also told the United Nations that “externally sponsored terrorism” is undermining national security. Analysts say without cooperation, instability will deepen and derail regional development.
