Bangladesh backs Nepal’s historic political transition; Ambassador Rahman’s presence underscores regional solidarity.

Bangladesh has extended visible support to Nepal’s historic political transition. On Friday, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Nepal Md Shafiqur Rahman attended the swearing-in of Sushila Karki as interim prime minister.

Karki is the first woman to lead the Himalayan nation and previously served as chief justice of Nepal’s Supreme Court. Following weeks of deadly unrest that toppled the government, Nepal’s president appointed her to guide the interim administration.

Ambassador Rahman described the occasion as a “privileged” moment, underscoring Bangladesh’s solidarity with its neighbor during a turbulent period. His presence at the ceremony demonstrated Dhaka’s commitment to Nepal’s democratic recovery, stability, and leadership by example.

Observers noted the gesture highlighted Bangladesh’s role as a supportive regional partner in South Asia.
