Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has pledged to release a timetable for Bangladesh’s parliamentary election within four to five days, following a meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday.
Fourteen parties and one alliance, led by Jatiya Party Coordinator Mostafa Jamal Haidar, discussed free and fair polls to quell unrest and prevent “defeated forces” from regaining influence. Representatives, including National Democratic Movement founder Bobby Hajjaj and Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Secretary General Maulana Manjurul Islam Afandi, heard Yunus commit to a briefing alongside the July Charter, clarifying election dates and procedures.
The Chief Advisor sought cooperation to identify and suppress propaganda against law enforcement. This marks his third round of consultations after the July 21 Air Force jet crash into Milestone School and College.
