Investigators in Bangladesh have identified all 10 people killed in the Oct. 17 fire at TupTup Resto & Resort in Cox’s Bazar, The Daily Star reported.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) matched deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) samples from the charred bodies with samples from relatives. Six victims belonged to one family and four to another.
The four included Mohammad Nahidur Rahman, 41, his wife, Afsana Matin, 36, and their daughters, Rozaina Inaya, 9, and Munaina Ihana, 6. The other family group included five adults and a six-year-old boy.
Rimon Ghosh, the investigating officer, said the bodies would be handed to relatives. The report did not confirm that the handover had occurred. The fire broke out at the resort along Marine Drive near Patuartek beach in Ukhiya, about 28 kilometers from Cox’s Bazar town.
