Bangladesh journalist killed nearly a year after surviving earlier attack

A journalist who survived an attack last year was shot dead in Netrokona, Bangladesh, on Thursday night, The Financial Express reported.

Lutfuzzaman Alif Fakir was the Netrokona correspondent for Ruposhi Bangla, an internet television channel. He also ran a Facebook page, Detective Article, where he wrote about alleged irregularities and criminal activities.

Dhaka Tribune reported, citing police and witnesses, that two men arrived on a motorcycle and fired at him while he sat at a shop. They fled, and residents took him to a local health complex, where a doctor declared him dead.

Police said they were conducting operations to arrest those involved. Fakir had previously been attacked Nov. 10, 2025, near the Someshwari River. Assailants injured him and chased away a colleague who tried to intervene.
