Seven children died with measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh in the 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. Wednesday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported.
All seven deaths were classified as suspected measles deaths, not confirmed infections. They raised the combined total of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths this year to 1,177, The Financial Express reported, citing United News of Bangladesh (UNB).
Suspected deaths reached 1,073, while confirmed measles deaths remained at 104. Authorities recorded 1,199 new suspected cases during the reporting period, bringing that tally to 208,570. Another 128 laboratory-confirmed infections raised the confirmed caseload to 22,840.
Since March 15, hospitals across the country have admitted 185,390 patients with suspected measles. Of those patients, 177,698 have recovered, according to the DGHS figures.
