Prime minister Tarique Rahman invited American companies to make long-term investments in Bangladesh, saying private-sector growth could create jobs, expand trade and deepen economic ties with the United States.
Rahman made the appeal during a meeting with a 50-member delegation of the United States-Bangladesh Business Council at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
“Our goal is to build a private-sector-led, rules-based and globally connected economy. We want American businesses to be our partners in this transformation,” Rahman said.
He said the government is simplifying regulations, improving infrastructure, ports, logistics and energy security, and encouraging investment in renewable energy and modern technologies.
Council president Atul Keshap said Bangladesh has “tremendous potential” and that the private sector could help advance the government’s goal of building a $1 trillion economy by 2034 through capital, technology and global experience.
