A 10-foot-long python was safely rescued after becoming trapped in a fishing net in Bangladesh’s Durgapur area, local officials said.
The snake was found around 7 a.m. in Agar village, near Tinbazar, after it became caught in a net belonging to a local man named Shamsul.
A local wildlife worker, Amin, was informed about the trapped python and secured the snake before contacting the Forest Department. Monwar Hossain, a forest guard for the Durgapur Range, joined the rescue effort.
“Today at 7:00 AM, beside Tinbazar in Agar village, a python got trapped in a net,” Hossain said to NTV News. “Amin bhai, who works with snakes or wildlife, informed us. After arriving, we brought them to the jungle and released it in this place.”
Hossain urged residents not to harm wild animals that enter populated areas.
“If any wildlife enters your populated areas, you should keep it enclosed in a sack or cage, but do not kill it,” he said. “This is a punishable offense, and wildlife is very necessary for maintaining the balance of our environment.”
