Kamal Hossain, a key architect of Bangladesh’s constitution and founder of Gono Forum, has been hospitalized in Dhaka after a serious decline in health.
Hossain was admitted to Square Hospital on Friday, Jan. 2, and is being treated in the high dependency unit for “various physical complications,” said his daughter, barrister Sara Hossain.
“My father’s condition is currently stable,” she said, asking people to pray for his quick recovery.
Despite long-running health issues, Hossain recently appeared in public, attending funeral prayers for Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairwoman Begum Khaleda Zia at Manik Mia Avenue on Wednesday. Reports said his condition worsened soon after the service.
Hossain led the constitution drafting committee in 1972 and remains a widely respected jurist and statesman.
