BNP leader claims Awami League repression caused Khaleda Zia’s health decline

Abdul Moyeen Khan, a member of the standing committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, said Friday that “unjust repression” during the former Awami League government caused the deterioration in party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s health.

Speaking at a prayer gathering in Dhaka, he said physicians are providing round-the-clock care and using “everything possible under modern medical science.” He said people across Bangladesh are praying for her recovery.

“If you do not witness it yourself, you cannot fathom how deeply people love her,” he said. Moyeen added, “May Allah grant Khaleda Zia a full recovery.”

Awami League was removed from power more than a year ago.
