Bangladesh urged stronger regional leadership on climate-security cooperation, warning that rising seas and environmental pressures pose direct threats to stability across the Bay of Bengal.
Speaking at the Bay of Bengal Initiative Conversation in Dhaka, Adviser for Foreign Affairs Md. Touhid Hossain said climate impacts are reshaping security priorities for low-lying nations. He called on regional states to develop joint frameworks and share technology to build resilience.
“As a low-lying country facing the rising seas, saline intrusion and migration pressures, we must construct cooperative frameworks, share technology and resources, and link our security to our environment,” he said.
Bangladesh aims to position itself as a regional leader in climate diplomacy.
