A retired schoolteacher was killed and two others injured in a bomb and gun attack at a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) office near the IT Gate of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology on Sunday night, police said.
The BNP, the largest political party in Bangladesh following the ban of the Awami League, has been a frequent target amid renewed political unrest.
The deceased was identified as Imdadul Islam. The injured are Mamun Sheikh, 45, a local BNP organiser, and Mizanur Rahman.
Witnesses said unidentified attackers hurled two bombs and opened fire before fleeing. Police are investigating what they described as a premeditated attack.
