174 Bangladeshi nationals return home from Libya after trafficking ordeal

A group of 174 Bangladeshi nationals who were victims of human trafficking in Libya returned home Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport aboard a chartered Buraq Air flight arranged with support from the International Organization for Migration.

The returnees were provided travel allowances, food, and medical assistance. Many had been abducted or tortured while stranded in Libya.

The government urged them to share their experiences to raise awareness about trafficking and said efforts continue to repatriate others detained in Libyan centers.
