Bangladeshi photographer Shahidul Alam lands in Istanbul after release, set to arrive home Saturday.

Renowned Bangladeshi photographer and human rights activist Shahidul Alam, released by Israeli authorities on Friday after joining a Free Palestine campaign, is expected to arrive in Dhaka at 4:55 a.m. Saturday.

Earlier, Alam reached Istanbul around 2:30 p.m. local time and was received by Bangladesh Consul General Mohammad Mizanur Rahman. Ambassador Md Amanur Rahman said Alam’s return flight was scheduled to depart Istanbul at 6:45 p.m.

Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus expressed gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his role in securing Alam’s release. Bangladesh’s embassies in Jordan, Egypt, and Turkey coordinated diplomatic efforts for his safe repatriation.
