OpenAI expands ChatGPT Go to Afghanistan to boost AI access in developing regions

OpenAI has expanded its lower-cost ChatGPT Go plan to Afghanistan, offering users affordable access to its latest model, GPT-5. The plan, priced at about $4.50 a month in nearby markets, includes image generation, file uploads, and advanced data analysis tools.

OpenAI said the rollout is part of its push to make artificial intelligence more accessible in developing regions. Afghanistan joins 17 other Asian countries in the expansion.

Adoption of ChatGPT has grown rapidly in low-income economies, where OpenAI reports usage growth rates more than four times higher than in wealthier countries. The rollout currently covers web and Android users.
