Bangladesh’s Election Commission has unveiled its roadmap for the 13th National Parliamentary election, with voting expected in the first half of February.
Akhtar Ahmed, the commission’s senior secretary, announced the plan Thursday at a press conference in Dhaka. The roadmap outlines 207 steps covering 24 key areas, including updates to voter lists, election law reviews, and political-party registration.
Stakeholder dialogues are scheduled to begin in late September. Final voter rolls and election logistics are to be completed by November 30.
Muhammad Yunus, head of the interim government since the fall of Sheikh Hasina, earlier directed the election to be held before Ramadan, with the schedule likely to be announced in December.
