Professor Muhammad Yunus, Principal Advisor and Chairman of the National Consensus Commission, on Saturday called for faster progress on reforms to enable national elections in December.
He made the call during a meeting with Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz and member Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder at his official residence, Jamuna. Special Assistant Monir Haider was also present.
Commission members said talks have been completed with eight political parties, with a meeting scheduled with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Thursday. Public engagement programs are also underway.
Yunus stressed the need to advance both reforms and political dialogue to meet the election timeline.
