Artificial intelligence is central to how we produce, refine and deliver news. We use it aggressively across the newsroom, but always with human guidance, review and accountability. Editors and reporters remain fully responsible for the journalism we publish.
We use generative AI to produce early drafts of headlines, story outlines and supporting text that help our newsroom move quickly during breaking news and daily coverage. These drafts are only starting points. Editors and reporters revise, fact-check and shape all AI-assisted text before publication. No article appears without direct human oversight.
AI also helps us create and prepare images for our stories. We generate, enhance and edit visuals that illustrate themes, explain concepts and support reporting. When images represent real events, we follow strict standards. We do not use AI to alter, fabricate or distort photographs in ways that could mislead readers. All visuals are reviewed by editors for accuracy, clarity and fairness.
AI supports our research and production processes as well. We use machine-learning tools to analyze documents, examine large datasets, scan hours of video and audio, and identify patterns that strengthen our reporting. These tools do not make editorial judgments. They free our journalists to focus on verification, context and depth.
